Some Great Tips For Mold Elimination In Your Home

Sep 18th, 2011 Terry Stanfield

If you have mold, then mold elimination is probably your primary concern. After all, it can be hard to eradicate mold. It is extremely tenacious. It is that much harder if you are not sure just how to eliminate it. For the safety of your house and the health of your family, you have to make sure that you get the most successful remedies and techniques. The good news is that this article can help you.

To begin with, it is imperative that you understand the mold itself. For instance, did you know that it can develop and form just about anywhere? And once it has formed, the mold can spread all through your home. Even worse yet, there is not just kind of mold. There are a number of different types. They are different colors and manifest differently. It can lead to many health problems.

For instance, if you notice that you or members of your family often have respiratory problems, that could be the result of mold. Runny noses and frequent sneezing are common problems as well. The eyes are also a dead giveaway, if they are red and itch badly. Headaches can be a physical manifestation too. They are all the result of being allergic to mold.

So, clearly, you need to know where specifically to keep an eye out for mold. The spores absolutely love damp places, especially if they are warm. Basements and bathrooms are a particular favorite. They are veritable breeding grounds for mold. However, cabinets and closets can house mold as well - mold can even develop in the carpet!

So how do you get rid of mold? There are a number of ways, one of which is the use of vinegar, a plain, easily accessible household item. You just have to spray the vinegar directly onto the mold, then scrub the area. Of course, be sure to dry it thoroughly afterwards!

What about mold in the carpet? Naturally, you can get rid of all your current carpet and put new carpet down. That may be the best option, but it is not exactly cost efficient, is it? So, instead, you can try sprinkling the mold with baking soda. Let it sit for a few hours and then run the vacuum over the infected areas.

Clearly, mold is a serious problem. You need to take it seriously. Even if you clean your house rigorously, mold can still develop. There are no guarantees. It pays to be vigilant in the areas where mold likes to grow. Just because you clean your house constantly does not mean you will never get mold. After all, there is little you can do to keep your bathroom or basement from being warm or damp.

Keeping a close watch for mold in your home is a great way to eliminate it before it even occurs - through prevention. Most mold is dark in color, or outright black. Look out for spots like that. You can kill it before it spreads. Break out the vinegar and the baking soda!
